Suggested Sites for Next Year 2025

Bridgewater Inn

387 Mount Barker Rd, Bridgewater

The inn is across a creek from the Heysen Trail, which gives good views of the inn from a public space.

Evan

Henley Beach Jetty

Public toilets 50 metres north of jetty

Two Wilson paid parking sites east of Seaview Rd, plus public car park to the south (enter from Esplanade/South St)

Margaret

Wellington Square, North Adelaide

Nearest public toilets – upstairs in shopping centre on corner of Archer and O’Connell Streets

Street parking varied with both 2 and 3 hour limits

Margaret

City of Adelaide Clipper Ship

Honey St, Pt Adelaide.  Located off Ocean Steamers Rd, between Dock 1 and Dock 2.

Public toilets

Their website advises “lots of free parking”

Margaret

Kingston Park Coastal Reserve

Off Burnham Rd, on the Marino Beach front.

There is a pebble-strewn flat rock platform in the tidal zone, and an interesting cliff face, as well as beach and reserve views

Margaret

South

Glenthorne National Park

Hallet Cove

Marino Rocks

Kingston Park

Clarendon Riverbend Park

Glenthorne was well liked this year, a good venue.

Marino Rocks – via Jervois Tce.

Clarendon – via Oval Rd. A bit far, but a good location that we used to go to. Parking and toilets are available.

Tony

Adelaide Hills:

Piccadilly Valley

Bridgewater Inn / Lions Playground

Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens

Carrick Hill

I suggest at least two Hills locations for the year.

Piccadilly Valley – either Swamp Road or Gores Road. No toilets but these are available at Summertown, Uraidla and Uraidla Oval.

Bridgewater – has parking and toilets.

Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens – either top or bottom entrance

Carrick Hill

Tony

Port Adelaide

Either:

The Birkenhead side, or

Near the old Lighthouse, or

the old Mill (Mundey Str.), or

the Joyce Snadden Reserve – on Tam O’Shanter Creek (nearest toilets at the shopping centre 2 blocks away).

Tony

Metro Beaches – one or two of:

Henley Beach,

Torrens Outlet, Glenelg

Semaphore / Largs Bay

Somerton

Tony

East:

Anstey Hill Quarries

Stockade Reserve

Anstey Hill Quarries — I suggest it is time we returned there – either the one near the Eastern end of Perseverance Rd (with the new carpark and toilets), or the one off Lower NorthEast Rd just past the Western end of Perseverance Rd (no toilets).

Stockade Reserve — off Princes Rd & Howard St. There are toilets and car parking. Leads to Dry Creek Reserve.

Tony

Central Suburban and Linear Park:

Henley Beach Rd Bridge,

Linear Park

Victoria Park Wetlands

Botanic Gardens

I liked the venue where Henley Beach Rd crosses the Torrens, and would be happy to do this again.

Linear Park venues are at Willow Bend (Ascot Ave) and Klemzig at (Briar Rd and Riverside Drive) or others.

Victoria Park Wetlands – this would be an excellent venue but parking is not ideal and the toilets are a fair walk. On the Western side, there is 2 hour (and limited 4 hr) parking in Beaumont Rd. On the Eastern side there is parking on the ‘feeder’ road across and alongside Fullarton Rd.

Botanic Gardens is always a good venue.

Tony

City Central:

North Tce/Kintore Ave,

King William St Bridge/Elder Park/Convention Centre,

Victoria Square or Market.

West Tce Cemetery

I wouldn’t mind doing at least one City venue, and I would travel light and by bus.

Not all enjoy the challenge of working in busy public places!

West Tce Cemetery — We have been before. One can drive in and park, and there are toilets.

Tony

Oaklands Wetlands

There are several large covered areas to give shelter from rain, so I suggest this as a site for Winter.

There is plentiful parking along the entrance road, and toilets are located at the southern end of the road.

John
